WOW, this is very poignant, and hit home. Poetry certainly reflects life. Life imitates art imitates life. My mind took it a little further than what I think the original intent of this was but, most of us have at least one person who has us wrapped around their fingers, and we believe anything they tell us, no matter how ridiculous it may appear to be. To us, it’s not crazy. We believe it all, from
“I’ll be back in 3 months…” to “Of course, there’s only you.” or “Yes, I’ll pay you back this time.”

Even though we have every reason not to believe them, we buy their promises, every time. We don’t think it’s crazy when they’re telling it to us. It’s not until we realize we’ve been duped that we see the craziness in it, until the next time they bring it to us then we evidently forget about the last time. Do they say, “Got em!” then go to the crib and laugh at us for believing them? Or do they really believe in their own hearts that they’ll follow through on their promises?
